AI coding tools were changing how fast software could be written, but on our team everyone was using them differently, or not at all.
I started by rolling out Cursor to every developer. Then I designed a shared Claude Code setup for the team: common rules that describe how our projects are built, reusable skills, and sub-agents for recurring tasks. Everyone works from the same setup, so the AI follows the team's conventions rather than each person's own prompts.
The clearest result came in March 2026, with the permissions specification for the ERP. Writing it by hand would have taken about a week. With the AI-assisted workflow it took about a day.
AI didn't replace the engineering decisions. It removed the slow, repetitive parts so the team could spend its time on the decisions.
